| We at Calltrader.Com are in the process of putting together
a pictoral book about callmaking. The first book in particular is to be about
friction calls. These include box calls, slate, aluminum etc pot calls, push
button calls and the like.
This will be a coffee table book and will focus on the calls and the callmakers.
The book will also contain a history of callmaking (in ancient man) as well
as some original patent drawings. It will also include some basic directions
for callbuilding as well as helpful tips.
We want this book to show the wide diversity of calls on the market today. |
|
From the super ornate carved calls all the way down to the $5 field call
someone makes in their basement.
We'd like for you to contribute and be a part of this book! It doesn't matter
if you make one call a year, or 100 we still want to hear from you. In fact,
it's most important to us that the small callmakers are represented in our
book, after all that's always been the purpose of Calltrader.
Now, we have already had several folks send in their information. I want
to answer the most common question we get asked when we ask people to be
in our book....The answer is, it costs you nothing to be in the
book.
What we are looking for are photos and writeups about our fellow callmakers.
Photos should include a sample of a couple of finished calls. The photos
may be mailed directly to us, or sent in an e-mail as a JPG attachment. If
you make ten different types of box calls send pictures of all of them.
The JPG attachments should be no more than 500 pixels in width. If this is
a problem for you
e-mail our
staff and we'll work with you on larger images.
The size of the first book will be determined by how much response we get.
All photos will be used for this book and no other publishing purpose, other
than advertising the book.
Anyone contributing content for the book will be allowed to buy the book
before it goes on public sale at 50% off the cover price.
Now how will our book differ from other books about callmakers?
While we hope it includes some of the common names known to call collectors
and builders, we hope our book will also have many of the lessor known
callmakers. But our book will focus more on the call, and less on the callmaker
than previous books. We hope that callmakers will also include good contact
information. In this way the reader may contact the builder with any questions
or to order calls.
And Most of all we need to know more callmakers! Most
every callmaker knows two or three more in their locality, help us by giving
us contact information about these folks.
I'm sure you may have tons of other questions or suggestions and we're always
glad to hear them. Click on the "Questions?" icon above or e-mail us at
